Captive vs. Free-Roaming Wild (Wolf) Woman

There’s something deeply powerful about the connection between a wild woman and a wild wolf. Both are untamed, instinctual and free, living fully in alignment with their nature. So, as I reflect on this connection, especially considering the name of my community, The Wild Medeina (named after Medeina, the Lithuanian goddess of the forest), this topic feels close to my heart. It’s time to talk about the difference between the free-roaming wild woman—and the captive, tamed one.
Here’s the thing about wild wolves: They’re meant to roam freely in packs, living by their instincts, wild and free. But what happens when wolves are confined in captivity? They’re deprived of that primal connection to their pack and their natural environment. In captivity, wolves don’t always get the space or the conditions they need to live as they should—this stress manifests in monotonous, aimless behaviour, lack of exploration and disengagement. You don’t see wild wolves acting like that…
Captivity strips them of their very essence. These creatures—who are meant to run through forests, hunt with their packs and live in harmony with their instincts—are reduced to shadow versions of themselves. Even their hormones are thrown out of whack. In these cramped enclosures, female wolves can’t even mate properly because their natural instincts are stifled by stress. It’s beyond heart-breaking if you ask me...
So can we draw a parallel here to wild women in society? I think you know where I’m going with this…
When women are placed in environments that tame them—like academia or rigid 9-5 jobs—what happens? So many women become like those caged wolves: stressed, disconnected and living in a loop of societal expectations. They’re told they have to suppress their wildness, their instinctual wisdom, their feminine power, just to fit into a system that wasn’t designed for them to thrive. They become like the wolves pacing in circles, with a spark of life extinguished. They become exhausted, drained and disconnected from their purpose. And yet, we’re supposed to believe that this is "normal"?
The parallels are clear, aren’t they?
So here’s your wake-up call: It’s time to RE-CLAIM your wild side. Ask yourself: Where have I been tamed without my permission? Where have I let society’s demands, or academia’s cold, sterile environment, or the soul-sucking grind of a corporate 9-5 suppress my truest, wildest self?
It’s time to draw your boundaries and resist the desensitization of women in spaces that demand we shrink. YOU’RE NOT MEANT TO FIT INTO THEIR BOX. Your instincts, your creativity, your passion—these are your birth rights.
So, stand up. Break free from that cage. ROAM WILD, ROAM FREE and remember: The world needs the full, untamed, unapologetic woman that you are!
Wild women empowerment starts with you when you embrace fierce wolf woman within in you!
